Early Screenshot of the cancelled sequel

Triggerheart Exelica II (トリガーハート エグゼリカ II Torigāhāto Eguzerika Tsu) also written as Triggerheart Exelica 2 was a cancelled sequel made by Warashi in 2007.

Due to the cancellation of the project, there's only one screenshot of the game. As far as it shows, the game only shows Exelica as the playable character and features a more standard score mechanic and the item bonus multiplier was removed. This might be because of its early development. It also seems to ditch the vertical scrolling in favor of a more perspective scrolling in the style of Konami's Axelay and Taito's RayStorm which didn't worked out and Kazuhiko Kakoi wasn't happy with that, leading to its cancellation.

On October 25th, 2024, Cosmo Machia revealed the existence of the cancelled sequel in a Makuake post called "The story of Exelica 2's ghost" (幻のエグゼリカ2の話 Maboroshi no Eguzerika 2 no hanashi). Two concept logos were also revealed. They are considering to include this in the fanbook for the upcoming Switch release of Triggerheart Exelica Enhanced since it has little to do with the game and the original author's intention.
